I’m watching Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy again because when I saw it in the theater, I was running on about 4 1/2 hours of sleep and it was of course a dark room and I’m pretty sure I might have fallen asleep for a few minutes at least once. But one thing that I did remember correctly is that, for a man nominated for Best Actor, Gary Oldman doesn’t actually do much talking. His first line is almost 18 minutes into the movie despite having been introduced after about 5. Most of his conversations consist of him looking at the other person while they do about 90% of the talking.
This doesn’t mean I don’t think he deserves the Oscar, but it’s something to think about.
